Exciting news from Spectre Strings as the mixed sex electric string quartet prepare to début their high impact choreographed show!
Look out for news and pictures from the performance as the ensemble brings pop covers arranged for string quartet to the world of corporate entertainment.
Spectre’s high-octane repertoire includes the furious Storm from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, an arrangement of Avicii’s hit, Wake Me Up, and the energetic music from the Rocky and Pirates of the Caribbean films featured in the group’s first impressive showreel. The electric string quartet will be styled in futuristic gold outfits, complementing the fresh image brought by the look and sound of electric instruments.
Spectre Strings is a new venture from violinist David Giardino who was inspired to produce a high impact show for corporate functions.
David’s London String Quartet, Giardino Strings, will perform for a traditional Valentine’s Day dinner at Pall Mall’s Oxford and Cambridge Club. This will be the tenth year in a row that David and his string quartet have appeared as Valentine dinner musicians at the venue, a prestigious members’ club open to alumni from Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
Accustomed to romance, Giardino Strings often appears as a modern wedding string quartet as well as being invited to play for corporate and private functions. The group frequently provides a romantic musical backdrop from a solo classical cellist to the string quartet for a wedding proposal!
The Valentine’s Day Dinner is a formal event, but the club suits a modern twist to the traditional black-tie. For this event, Giardino Strings will be all about the red-carpet glamour. With attention to detail in every aspect of the performance, the girls will dress in red gowns to symbolise love and passion, and David will accent his black-tie outfit with a red bowtie and cummerbund.
Repertoire for the evening will showcase classic love songs and music steeped in romance, from Elgar’s beautiful melody Salut D’Amour to La Vie En Rose, the signature ballad of tragic singer Edith Piaf. The group will perform pop covers arranged for string quartet including the lighthearted Lionel Richie song, “Hello,” Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes off You,” an upbeat number full of mixed emotion due to its poignant use in Michael Cimino’s 1978 Vietnam war movie, The Deer Hunter.
